We really want to do more with less. Look at how small and cheap memory, disks, got. Look how much better and more efficient LCDisplays are. Just as we would have had to chop down every tree in the U.S. to run the railroads, we would have had to pollute the planet to destruction just to run all the computers now if each of them took the power needed just 20 years ago.
